I just joined up today and I'm looking for any idea's for what to put down in my run for flooring. I am moving my chickens across the garden and don't want to put them on concrete this time as it doesn't drain well and I have to scrape at it to remove the poo to keep the flys down. Need to make life easier for myself. Any ideas?

Well I would say dirt lol that's how I raised mine but since they stepped on it all the time it became flat so it was good :D but if you want to keep it clean then I don't know :/ well they do need dirt to dust bathe, but it just depends on you :P Just never use the wood chips bedding thing xD I forgot what it's called! and welcome to BYC!

Thanks, I think what ever I do it'll turn to mud so will prob just fill it back up with soil and section off a bit of sand for them. I've lined the ground with sheets of wire as we have foxes, moles and badgers here, not sure weather to cover part of the run roof to protect from the rain, was thinking of just wood and wire mesh so the run will get wet and poo with drain away into soil. if it turns into a mud bath then I could cover part of it at a later date. we just suffer with flies here. I have just bought a red top fly catcher gonna put it up this week and see if it helps this summer.

! Great to have you in our community! Is sand an option for you? Drains well at least and dries out quickly. Good luck to you!
