Really you need to try this. Just had dinner; chicken soup, used summer squash as my noodles. In any case it’s a reheat. I Broke one egg into the dish after I dished it up and heated, in the microwave, after nuking for 3 minutes covered and heated again for 3 minutes. You may have a newer nuker. What ever, if you cant open a can of soup or make it then spend your money at the local restraunts. A few crackers and it’s no longer only a breakfast or baking item. Hey the kids are growing and you need more protein.

Ok at 6 am I tossed the mamma hen in the coop with the other chickens. Learn to live here I am tired of poking you with the rake to get you out of the trees. Dog gone it; don’t you realize that the coons climb trees? Some times it takes 4 pokings. Last night after several pokings we were done! So today they spend the day with the big chickens and I hope they learn where to roost. Tomorrow I will let them out and hope they know where to roost at the end of the day.
Other wise I may pellet gun them out of the tree!!

Ok being busy playin with duck this last week, Sadly I have some free time to yell at everyone

Anyhow lil update on the birds. I have Lost all but three of the 30 some melenistic pheasants I had and I have lost all but eight button quail I had. I still have some jack wagon from Alabama wanting me to ship him some Peegins no not pigeons peegins

thats how he said it . I have told this dumby 5 times that the Ozawkie Post office will not allow shipping or receiving of any birds until fall. Guess he needs to brush up on his English before hopping the border.

Okay so of 16 eggs I would appear 14 took (checked at five days, two had no growth)!
Of those 14, 9 hatched... 5 blue and 4 black!
Schellie69 has spoken for two blues
I'll grow out the others and keep atleast one blue Pullet
I will be keeping a black roo for sure (to breed against my Lav Pullet, her babies will be split and can be bred back to my Lav roo (different lines) to gain some size and hopefully improve the lavs).
And ofcourse ByNatureFarms has a pick at these as well (they were his after all)!

Apparently while I was away at the Country Stampede this last weekend the dogs chased a cat away from the brooder, which knocked open the lower lid when the light cord one of them got caught in ripped off and broke... Long story short one of the two white Amaraucanas escaped and is MIA... To make it worse, the one that's left seems to be a roo and won't be staying

!

In other poultry news:

My little black moltted frizzle cochin seems to be 100% roo and will definitely be staying either way, the black orp seems to be a Pullet and will probably go to the "family layer pen" and the Black EE seems to be a too and will be needing a home!

The light brahmas I purchased have turned out to be 2 and 1 buff... But atleast seem to be a Pullet of each color to head to the "family layers"... No decision yet if one is a roo! Still no clue on the three silver penciled rocks... But if I had to guess I'd say two are pullets for sure! Hopefully the three new BCM's are going to be pullets to, really going to need them to be if they're to head up a future olive egger project (will be in the Amaraucana pen under the Lav roo)!

Also, the last three Chukar babies passed last weekend, sister-in-law followed instructions to a tee! They were one a towel in a 10 gal with a UTH (under tank heater) as all other chicks start their first days here, but they were placed on a towel (dark maroon for contrast)... And fed finely ground starter (did it myself) on the floor... And watered three times daily! To make it worse... The four older Chukars went outside lastnight to their new pen... None made it through the night?!?! I'm ready to give up on these things! I'm having terrible luck with them! But somehow my boy's button quail pair is doing great!!!!

The boy's "peegins" (too funny not to use) are doing well so far atleast... Hopefully they'll be moving to their new outdoor home this weekend! But it's my turn to do chores around the farm this weekend so maybe not...

Going to be reloading the bator on the 2nd for a timely hatch just before the next Topeka swap... Any breed suggestion that's been selling well?!?! Need to cover next month feed reload

Hot hot hot! Spent most of yesterday in the AC cleaning house for guests. Then fireworks in Bonner. Great show. My poor chickens have thrown them all in the same pen. Time for the chicks to roost in the big pen. Gives the big birds someone else to pick on besides the silky.
Met some Topeka people last night at the fireworks. They have a 5 birds. Nice to see someone who is all about their chickens and getting eggs and not haveing some breeding project that demoralizes the parents or offspring. Oh well thats the only update here.

I think I am smarter than the racoon! What number is that?? Ok this has worked before. But I have another racoon infestation. Dogon weesles are pooping on my rabbit cage and trying to get into every thing. Shot one the other day but now have them marking every cage in the yard and even the lawn by the grill. Ok so have a pole 10' conduit stuck in the ground by my deck. Hung a bag of beef fat in old potato chip bag just out of reach. Gun loaded 22 long rifle. Window up so just have screen. 10 pm Im a going racoon hunting from the AC of the house. Just slide up the window and shoot through the screen.

Get em while they are preying to the greese God! With luck the vultures will be eating tomorrow!!

Well Duck came up yesterday to hang out . We went fishing at the boat ramp for a while. She managed to catch all the fish ....lol. I tried every time I tried to set the hook I smacked my finger which is still all beat up. Had lots fun chit chatting and catching up on current discussions. Thinking bout dropping another line in the water. Any how here is the big catch..............A Drum
