Okay, I thought maybe he was just trying to get used to his new surroundings, but it has been a week now. He is a buff rock, I think we have established here, and at least 6 months old. The only sound he makes is like a growling sound when my BO pullets get close to him, just for a warning, he is a very polite roo. I am just waiting on that crow. Where is it? Do any of you have a Buff Rock and how old were they when the crowing started?

Here is Gumbo. He just looks huge and it is weird that he does not crow yet.

My mutt rooster is close to 5 1\\2 months and I have not heard him once yet. He just gives that growl when the others chase him. The hens are 7 1\\2 old and chase him around. He is just starting to get his tail feathers and coarse neck feathers. My niehbor has a rooster from the same brood and his is not crowing yet either.Hopefully we will hear them soon.

Um, any possibility that Gumbo may be, um, Gumbette?

I could tell more with a side shot, but it sure looks like it could be a hen...

I'm siding with Chellester and silkiechicken because as soon as I saw the photo I thought it looked more like a hen fom what I could tell.

More photos would be helpful.

I agree....looks like a hen...Hmmm..I'm not seeing the makings of spurs in that pic either...

Yeah, I'm gonna go with the others on this one. First glance at the pic I thought it was a hen. Good luck figuring it out.. If you can get a couple side shots maybe we can help you more?

Oh, guys, tell me it's not so. I was sure this was a roo. Shows you how much I know...... here are more pics for verification. What do you think?

Okay, can you tell from these pics. If it is a pullet, where are the eggs?
