goofy hen won't get up and leave the box!

my friend had the same problem. Until i took her Monday w/ 2 eggs from another.Since i"ve had her home, she doesn't look like she moved at all????
She has her water and scratch feed & some maters or watermelon. I pet her when i get home from work and check on her, she raises her butt like a cat and clucks a lil.
just want to know is this healthy.
thank you for any help.
What your broody (yes, she IS broody) is doing is perfectly fine. When you approach her she will raise her rear end, fluff up her feathers, and what I call "growl" at you....they do NOT want to be bothered...takes their mind off what they're doing. They almost seem like they're in a "trance-like-state" ... If you have provided her with water and feed nearby (not too close, you want her to have to get up at least once a day to eat/drink/poop. not to worry...sounds like you have a great little broody there! Let us know when you get little fuzzy-butts!

Broody hens will get up and stretch their legs, get food and water for around half an hour twice a day so she will be having enough to survive if ur worried either get her eggs or chicks or you can out her in a wire bottom box (debrooder) or give her fake eggs that she will sit on for around 2/3 weeks when she realises nothing is going to hatch
