GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Not yet, but my Africans started on February 14th last year so I would not be surprised if they start this weekend. My dewlaps started around March 7th last year and they appear to be on track as well. Any day now, I'll be up to my eyeballs in goose and duck eggs again.

J my Sebastopol's have already started to lay. I have been taking them because by the time we get out there they are frozen... This is the coldest weather we have had for a winter in 30 years!!! So I hope the ones that have not started will at least wait until the weather breaks soon....

8 I love snow too but have had just about enough of it this year. It has been colder than any winter since I can remember about 30 years. My body is aching so badly from all the snow and snowing, freezing rain ect.!!!! Walking on this snow freezing and the ice underneath it getting even harder. Thank GOD I have cleats now....

Its been really cold here too but it hasnt been that long in between cold winters. The last one was 10 yrs ago. We had lots of snow like we have had this year, but that spring and summer everything did great. Gardens, nut trees and fruit trees yielded a lot that year. Im hoping this year will be the same.

Well I finally heard Sam give the victory call, ran out the door trying to get my boots on to make sure he didn't get one of the ducks, and there they were looking very innocent Sam and Missy. No pool either, too cold. but suppose to get a warm up this week so hopefully by Tuesday they will have pool water. So almost a month from last year for mating to begin.

I guess the weather is really being wacky everywhere. Our temps are in the 50s and we have been getting steady rain for days. Half of our town is flooding out, but luckily the drainage system is working well at our place.

That's good to hear ya'll aren't flooding, we're to have rain most of the week starting tuesday with big warm up into 50-60's so I am thankful we're up above the river and not along it since with the snow there will be flooding. I went and put a fake[ceramic] goose egg in their house so she won't do like she did last year and start laying in the ducks/chicken coops. Actually about a month later to the date, since she laid her first egg on Jan 31st of 2013.

Hope your weather continues to hold nice for you all J.
