GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Thanks, guys! No clue about parentage. Momma is a pekin/blue crested mix, but she had eggs from all the girls in her nest. If I had to guess, I'd say the dark spotted one looks ancona to me.

My fancy pigeon is doing great, thanks.

Currently she lives free in our spare bedroom by herself and has become extremely people friendly and tame. As great a house pet as she is, we are in the process of designing a flight coop for her on the horse property and will get her a buddy, as she deserves to be outside with one of her kind.... and her messes are a bit of a chore to clean up.

Yes, ma'am. We'll keep the hatching thread going year round at this rate. Here's the latest trio of ducklings, hatched yesterday afternoon. The babies are not necessarily from the momma who hatched them, as my ducks steal each other's eggs.

J what a lovely duck. Thee ducklings are just adorable! My goodness look at all the duck eggs......

Thanks, Ruru! She abandoned the eggs and were cold when I checked them today, so I tossed them. There are 3 more broody ducks in the coop with her, all of them sitting on way too many eggs. Hope they don't hatch more than a few, if any.

Not sure how to navigate and post so this may be way out of place and time.
If a person bought two geese and they turned out to be male and female, should you let them breed since they are likely siblings? Or does it matter with geese or chickens too?

Beautiful...now I want some Buff geese as well.

Oh I love my buffs. Full disclosure they're the only ones I've ever had and I like other geese, but the way the buffs move and look it;s like I have sailing ships moving through my yard.

Part of me wishes I'd "tamed" some because some days I want nothing more than to pat that head and stroke the fluffy neck.

Without losing a finger or a nose...
