Where did you get your Egyptians? My son has been wanting some and I was planning to buy him a few next year. He wants me to raise Canadians again also. I will need to call my state fish and wildlife lady for permits on the Canadians. I have 32 ducklings right now and 6 goslings, and goose and duck eggs in the incubators. In the nineties and they still keep laying eggs. In this heat, I do not let them sit on them, however. I am an overzealous mom, I guess.

Good morning, peeps.

I am so happy my African egg hatched out healthy late last night and my 3 day old dewlap boy will have a buddy as soon as I remove African from hatcher. It appears to be a brown baby (from a white goose), so I think that means it is a color-sexed female. I also have a dewlap egg that externally pipped last night and another one that has internally pipped. So.... more babies on the way!

RG - those egyptians are AMAZING! Are they an aggressive breed? Will they be kept separate from your domestics?

Rugener -- I certainly wish you'd come get all these Canadians off my yard!! They are huge now (just like the first sebastopol kids) and getting all their pretty black and tan feathers. The original pair had 5 goslings, and then a 2nd pair showed up WALKED through the woods with a single gosling and set up housekeeping as well. And then there is the rescue group that Violet took care of....sheesh...
