GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

RURU These are the parents. Dad/Doc is the grey Saddleback and Mom/Bashful has a few scattered feathers of grey coloring and a small "beauty" spot on her face.

Yes, I do believe that since the parents both have color this will be a splash goslings. Keep us posted on this one as the feathering keeps coming in.

Thanks J and I will Barb. I only have 3 babies from this pair, all 3 are going to be different colors.

Picture overload time, from the oldest to the youngest. My newest buff girl (named Sunshine) is pictured twice because she is extra special.

Today has been a day of shock and grief coupled with a happy surprise. This morning I found Ember, Spirit's faithful hatchmate companion, in major distress from reproductive issues. As I was talking to my vet and getting ready to race her to the clinic, she passed away. While her laying had been sporadic and tapering off, there was no sign that anything was wrong with her eggs or having issues laying. She has been taken to the local crematory for a private cremation and personalized box for her remains. RIP my sweet Ember girl.

In brighter news.... not only did my African baby hatch overnight, but a beautiful buff girl also hatched out this afternoon. Unfortunately, my grieving for Ember has caused a dark cloud to shadow the joy I should be feeling right now.

Thank you to my friends, for all your fingers and toes crossing. The next two dewlap eggs have been moved into the hatcher. Maybe fate will throw me a bone and I'll get another buff girl.
Condolences and Blessings. How about another blessing at you for another buff girl?

Thanks all on my Egypt Goslings/Ducklings ! They are sooooo beautiful. Will have 2 pairs . I also went to auction & set peacocks and

2 RHEA EGGS !!!! Oh Lordy what if they hatch???

RG - those egyptians are AMAZING! Are they an aggressive breed? Will they be kept separate from your domestics?

Rugener -- I certainly wish you'd come get all these Canadians off my yard!! They are huge now (just like the first sebastopol kids) and getting all their pretty black and tan feathers. The original pair had 5 goslings, and then a 2nd pair showed up WALKED through the woods with a single gosling and set up housekeeping as well. And then there is the rescue group that Violet took care of....sheesh...

Here's a link to the various goose stories I've posted online about the geese this spring-- been an adventure for sure!

I will be sure to read it! I am an Arkansonian...would not mind a visit for some awesome southern iced tea and a good Roll Tide game. LOL!

Looks like a white Paula as they can can often have dusty grey on their first feathers. If its a Splash the color will be down the entire feather length tip to skin. As a posed to just the tips of the feathers.

Looks like a squishy ball of fluff being held in that picture.
There you are Shellie! COOL! I was wondering how you, the birds, Pyrs and family were faring with that nasty weather! Got a little Pyr boy, BTW!
