They are adorable, what happened to the older ones? Sat. i went out to do chores and noticed my chocolate Scovy girl laying off by herself not that unusual but something about the way she looked [her face] just sent up a red flag, so I brought her inside , she hasn't been laying because I have to go through their bedding with a fine tooth comb since her sister is broody in there and we can't have babies, but anyway I set her up in the spare bath room put a tub full of warm water and had her float for a couple hrs keeping the warm water going to keep it warm. She wouldn't eat but was still drinking anyway Sunday morning she laid an egg not real soft shelled but not hard like normal either, In the tub water she was passing what look like yolk type stuff with blood mixed in, so I just had a feeling something wasn't right. as the day went on yesterday I did another soak in the afternoon but he breathing began to get heavy which made me think she was going down, I decided to stay up with her because I didn't want her to be alone probably sounds stupid but thats just me, but she died around 8:40 last night. I know I am only guessing it was peritonitis but I really believe it was some kind of infection that had to do with egg laying. She would have been 3 this July.Oh, MLyd, poor little soul, what happened?
And J has not forgotten plan B!![]()
We´ve been watching the latest duckings in the water.....so sweet. Apart from the heartache when we lost the older ones, the little ones always make me feel good.
The little yellow one looks to be a barred, going by the grey butt!!
Thank you.Maybe an egg broke inside her? I'm so sorry for your loss. At least you were with her when she passed.
