8, You will need small bubble wrap, styrofoam and pine shavings as packing material.

I am pleased to announce my white trio are officially separated. I hope everyone adjusts ok!

Glad to hear about the whites being separated, can't wait til I get a few to hatch.

Now if only my ganders would get it in gear, but not expecting much this year.

Well, I may wind up only keeping a white pair separated instead of a trio. All heck broke out by taking one of the white girls away from her brown gander mate. They called for each other all night and at daybreak, the gander busted out of the pasture with his posse and came a running for his girl. Now my entire African flock is parked in my driveway raising up a fuss because they cannot get the whites freed.

Yes, aren´t they wonderful?!! Rebellion in the ranks!! So loyal (in general!)
I´ve been throwing stuff around in my head about how I´m going to do it here..I have to decide which ones to sell or keep, and I want only pairs, not trios, and certain males to pair off with certain females, but I hope they´ll go along with my choices!!!! (Yeah, right!). They just hate being separated, too, so I´ll wait, as they´re still within families, and I have until June to sort it.
Our of interest, what will the brown african with white african produce for you?

I don't know what to do. It does not seem fair to my favorite boy to take his girl away. He looks so sad pacing the fence.

Brown ganders on white geese produce brown splash babies and while beautiful, not what we are looking for this year.

I may not have a choice but to keep just the pair separated. After dealing with quite the circus for the last hour, we finally allowed the one brown gander into the yard with the whites and everyone is quiet now.

I agree with you. I can imagine his upset. Poor thing, and he didn´t even lose her in a fair fight! They´re amazing birds aren´t they? We value them for their wonderful family ways and care and loyalty. That´s why I want to try to get mine paired off before they make attachments to the 'wrong' birds.

Last year I had one gander with 2 geese, and one with 3, and I could see the loyalty of the gander to one goose only, and also all his offspring, leaving the secondary wives out a bit, so this year each goose will have her own gander, and I hope I can note which gander likes which goose or at least that they like the ganders I put with them and make a good solid pair...if not, I´ll have to think again on some. I´d rather have them settled and happy, because I won´t mess with them after that. Happily for me, all of these type of geese are known here as common, (general auto-sexing types, but also includes toulouse-types) whether they´re dilute, solid, or spot gene...the fact that they´re not easy to find being beside the point!

Couldn´t you let the white one go back to her brown gander but swap her eggs for the white one´s eggs, then you´ll get double number of whites? You´ll get what you´re looking for this year with the pair, won´t you? Heart-rending!
