I bought a new brahma cockerel last weekend, and while I was there, I noticed an emu egg. I took a bit wonky, he´s not drunk!

Brahmas! If you hatch an Emu Egg, it doesn't mean you have to keep it? Raise it as a baby & find it a good home. Hatching an Emu is just the coolest

Why do geese take so darn long to hatch? My first one has made a pip and seems to be hanging out there. Been pipped since yesterday. I can tell he's not shrink wrapped. But come out of there, already! It's day 33, and there are two more goose eggs that haven't even pipped yet. Everything looked normal at last candling.

But if I hatched one I would HAVE to keep it! They´re so cute!!! And by the time it grew to be not so cute, I´d have become too attached to it! Our fencing is only about 4 ft tall in some places, I can imagine it´d be off terrorising the neighbourhood!!!! Haha, tempting.......

Same here! If I ever hatched out an Emu, I would be disowned. That is all.

I still have 2 goose eggs in the incubator. Today is day 32. I candled them quickly when I had to open the 'bator to turn the eggs that were not due to hatch (I was quick about it.) One of the goose eggs looked to have a live gosling bobbing around in the air cell, but has not externally pipped yet. The other looks to be fully developed, but not yet internally pipped. At what point do I decide it's time to assist or let nature take its course? I don't want to wait too long, particularly as the one is for sure still alive in there.

Just keep the humidity HIGH don't open it until you are completely sure that there is nothing else you can do. It takes about a day and a half once they externally pip to full absorb all their blood and yolk.

Oh, good. The gozzie has about 24 hours once it´s broken through the membrane until it needs to break through the shell. Is it making little noises and tapping? Exciting!

This is one thing I´m curious about. I don´t use an incubator, so I don´t understand all the ins and outs, but why keep humidity high for it to hatch? I´ve noticed my geese hardly leave the nest when the babies are hatching, which means they wouldn´t get wet feathers, so the humidity would be less when the goose is hatching them. Just curious.
