Here's the darling girl aka "Menace":

Well she´s a nicely coloured menace! Looks a bit bolshy, though....I have one like that, but happily she´s no match for the ganders!

It is not too uncommon to get a few soft shells when tapering off laying, even in middle of season when taking a break. I probably wouldn't worry too much about Napolean although I totally understand if you are. My girl is not taking a break as she is still eager to breed with my gander and becoming very protective of nest, so it does not appear that she is getting ready to take a break. The menacing blue scovy has returned to the dewlaps' yard this morning. Hope it won't be too difficult to catch her today.

I normaly wouldn't but none of them had weird eggs last year. Got one from her today and it looks nice and normal. Maybe she needed a reboot

Day 32. Im up early to have a look at my eggs. One has internally pipped!

I dont think he has been pipped for long. He still has massive veins inside.
Now its just a waiting game. I will keep an eye on him.

The book says dont change the humidity until he externally pips. Is that right?

Thats what I do .. raise humidity when the first one externally pips or if I'm not going to be home sometime after the internal. Since your worried about weight loss I'd postpone as long as you can.

Bolshy.... that is a cool word. I think I may have to name her that. Hubby never got around to naming his blues so we refer to them descriptively as light blue and dark blue.

Psue, glad to hear it!! Scott told me that if removing scovy does not fix problem, then he concludes a glitch in her metabolic system. He advised I need to move Shimmer to another yard and attempt to get her to reboot, the same way we would bust up a broody's nest. (For those who do not know.... Scott is an expert avian specialist vet).

i have got 0 goose eggs still with my 4 mixed geese i m now thinking of getting me a pair of baby geese and wait until this year is over with then wait for geese from my geese if i get no egg they are out of here if they do lay eggs i ll still have the pair of baby geese for breeding next year
