GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

We could have hung out together and everyone would have wondered if we won the fight or the other guy did. lol

I'm so glad it wasn't just me that made that mistake! We could have! But then we'd have had to admit it was the other guy and that guy was 1/10th our weight :-(

We have another new addition to the group. My white African girls (sitting on mystery African eggs) hatched a solo brown African baby yesterday afternoon. It is quite precocious and seems to rule the group. Hope it isn't a boy.

Unfortunately, we did not get any white Africans babies this year, but there's always next year.

We are still waiting on our dewlap girl to possibly hatch one or more of the eggs she is still tending to. But as each day passes, it seems more likely that she will be unsuccessful this year, which is perfectly fine with us humans since our dewlap flock is at maximum capacity.

So our grand total for this year is 6 ducks and 4 geese, with a few more possible hatches before it is all over.

Well, considering you didn´t intend to actually hatch any specifically, but leave them to it, that´s quite nice, except a white or two would have been even better! Will you be using an incubator next year? Serious quest for white Africans?

It's even harder if they work out they can fly and go visit the neighbours!

Mine frighten themselves when they overshoot and try to get back through the fence!

Mine go to ground - sit down and refuse to move until the group come to them. Makes finding them in the long grass difficult for me and of course the others cant go to them because they're on the other side of the fence.

Well I am getting my eggs from someone else so they will have their own storage methods.
I will see if I can find a book just on incubation for Geese, as you have suggested.
Thank you for the help

.
You´re welcome. Even better would be a book written in Australia, as it would be taking into consideration the weather conditions there, too. (Although I know it´s vast and varies greatly) Have fun!
