I´ll say they´re comical! I´m trying to keep a pair of pied cross-breeds separate from my experimental auto-sexings. I want them to produce pieds, but I don´t want the young gander messing with the quto-sexing stuff down in the marsh. So, he thinks differently..he likes the pond down there better than he lit=kes his kiddie-pool up here. Well, understandable, I suppose. so, he took off, left his lady up here near the house, and off to the pond down below.Geese can be so comical... My goodness you might want to wear pants that do not pull off by your goose! The one thing is geese love to chat with you when you bend down and talk with them. They will join in with each other talking with you. But just do not like to be touched. They will act like you are killing them when you pick them up but will settle down and sit there for a few.
I just love geese!!!
And there he was, having a great time showing off in the pond.. and along comes one of the geese that´s supposed to be auto-sexing that hasn´t got a male attached to her yet (for some reason my males don´t seem to like either of the two geese I bought in! Typical!) So, over I hope to get him out of there a bit nifty-like to get him back up with his Mrs.
So, I chuck some bits of cabbage into their pool up here to get them distracted from there down below, and in they go. Great.
Methinks, I´ll go and get the hose and top up the pond for them... No Way! say they! SNAKE ! They shot off out of there like firecrackers!
Right now they´re both up at the top fence gazing longingly down the hill to the pond. They will not use their kiddie pool here to breed, and if I let them go down the bottom, I know he´ll breed with the ones that I don´t want him to....
Plans of mice and men......and geese.
