Have 3 Cotton Patch goslings in the brooder & need to build a coop. Any designs appreciated. The simpler the better as I will be building this myself. I've read they need 8sf per goose & I plan on getting a 4th next Spring. So far I'm planning on 6' x 5 1/2', elevated 12-18" off the ground (we get a LOT of water in Spring). Do they need heat? We get down to -20F to -30F in Winter. They free range during the day. TIA.

No heat necessary. Geese are extremely cold hardy. Housing can be as easy as a run in shelter, or bigger so you can get in there. I'd recommend a bit bigger, especially if you are locking them in at night.

I don't know if they will go up a ramp or not.

Mine have an open 3 sided loafing shed. They have also had nothing more then dogloos. For the most part, they are happy to be out in a snow storm. They do need a layer of dry straw to protect their feet from freezing. I good cheap shed I saw was just small bales of straw stacked on edge about 3 high with a piece of plywood for a roof. Done.
