I have a goose egg that is on day 28 of incubation. I don't know what breed it is. Parents are white ... So maybe they are Chinese?

I saw shadowing inside the egg this morning. Shadowing means it's about to hatch? Is it hatching too soon?

Should I make an air hole after the internal pip?

This is the first time I'm hatching goose eggs. Had 5 in the incubator and this was the only one that was fertile. 🤷‍♀️😵 I'm so confused.

Thank you... I'm a real worry wart...

No, it's not hatching too soon. If the shadowing just started it could be quite awhile before the egg hatches; be patient. I wouldn't do an air hole yet if the internal pipping has just started. Try to keep the humidity up.

I had duck eggs start internal pipping four days ago and hatched yesterday.

If Chinese geese they'd have a bit of swan look; long graceful necks with a knob over the bill.

It has pipped externally! About 11½ hours after I checked and saw the internal pipping 😍.

And Sherlock the gosling is out! 😍

The only one that hatched from the eggs that were incubated... In a couple of days, Sherlock will have a Muscovy Duck sibling (currently under lockdown). Hopefully she / he, won't be too lonely.

Congrats! To avoid having the gosling imprint on you until the muscovy hatches, do not handle the gosling; feed and water only.
