Welcome to BYC!Hi! I
I’m new to hatching and I haven’t had any eggs hatch yet, I’m trying Duck eggs mostly, but I’m a vet tech and my boss had a goose get attacked and sadly killed by a fox or coyote and he found an egg in her canal ready to lay. I took it home and put it in the incubator. It grew and when I candled it last looks fully grown. Today it looks like it has a chip in it and is wiggling slightly, but it smells funky, not super raunchy but it stinks and hasn’t made any noise. I smelled all my other eggs and that’s the only one that smells. Do they smell when they start to hatch, PLEASE HELP! I DONT WANT IT TO EXPLODE!
Rocking on its own, or getting bumped somehow? Rocking is very obvious usually. I agree about candling it too, and if you can get candling pics that might help. If you hold the egg up to your ear, and tap it a few times, do you hear any clicking or feel any movement?
When was the last time that you knew for sure it was alive?
