There are diagrams and pictures at the beginning of this thread which explain internal pipping. "Internal pipping can be verified in two ways; often the shadows visible in the air cell on candling appear to pule rhythmically and if the blunt end of the egg is held to the ear a faint ‘click… click…click’ sound can be heard."

Thanks so much for posting such a helpful "article." I am a super noob at this, and don't even have an incubator yet. Hope to have one soon, and will try and learn on some wyandotte eggs and then I am wanting to hatch Seramas, BLRW, and White Leghorns to replenish my flock.

Great article. One question though...I have ordered eggs to be delivered via Post Office, should I let the eggs sit overnight before incubating? Or should I put them directly into the incubator when received?
