I love the high pitched happy peep sound they make. They are fun to watch and listen to. By the way, love your new avatar.

Iain,

Can you tell us what states all received rescue birds? Thinking about your location,Psues, Celtic, mine, and LightingTFarms has me wanting to make a rescue bird map. I'd like to see how far the web of love has spun itself.

That sounds pretty cool. The geese have gone to Virginia (x2), Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Florida (x2), California, and Oklahoma.

Including Utah, they are in 9 different states now. Hope this effort helps conserve the breeds (dewlaps and white africans), and increases awareness around these areas about how awesome these geese are.

They are all doing brilliantly! The White Africans kind of keep to themselves around here, unless everyone agrees to follow them. They seem to love the pool(s) more than any other goose, which is really saying something around here. Them and them ducks are having a standoff about the big end of the pool right now. They are not aggressive at all, just vocal. My DH is in love with them. He likes to go out the south door and talk to the geese, and they are more than happy to talk back. He think the africans are beautiful, but really like that the sebbies talk to him more. I love them all.

I will grab my phone now, on my way to do chores, and corner them all and try to take some pics.

Glad to hear everyone is doing great. I'd love to see new pics! I have noticed my africans are more obsessive about swimming than my dewlaps, but the dewlaps love their kiddie pools, especially after daily water change is done. I've got 20 more minutes here with my coffee before I have to brave going outside to do chores here.

Hello everyone,
I just resently adopted 4 africans from a local shelter and they claim to be pure breeds. My questions are... these have the pleated necks like my Toulouse's is this right for them? Then only one has the black beak is this because they are young? They also are grosslly under weight so I have been giving them all the whole oats and whole corn they want but they don't seem to be eating much of it at all. I have been thinkging on giving them some Meat Maker instead of the layer feed so they will gain some weight before winter stay's for good. They have geined some weight and the one with the black beek seems to be getting a dewlap an the start of a knob. These look like the Toulouse only with the dark strip on their necks. Any info would be great!!!

Need pictures to help ID. Sounds like a bard yard mix. They don't need and shouldn't be on layer except during the breeding season. Mazuri, or a multi flock product is a better non-breeding season choice.
