Oh Marty I am so sorry for your goose. I jsut can't seem to think what I would do if I found one so bad off. Well thier ya go I have become very attached to my geese. I have no kids so all my animals have become my children. It was so funny tonite that George (Troulouse with some sort of growth under beek) was chasing after the bunny that lives in the pasture in front of the barn. When I told him to stop that and that he (bunny) had a right to be there to, he stopped and gave me a loud honk and continued. I just couldn't help myself and dropped to the ground and started laughing my a**off. My child was back talking to me and all I could do wa laugh.
Best of luck with you and your goose. May he have a quick come back to health.
letting even your feathered kids get away with back talking is bad....

I just went and checked Buff again. That white stuff is all ready back over that injured eye. His head has had a beating, he looks like he was in a boxing match yesterday. His neck isn't moving around like crazy now, he's mostly calm. I haven't seen him even try to walk, but legs are more under than behind now, and he's not laying on his side. I was quite worried over the poor little thing. I woke up 30 min. before my alarm to change his water. I do see continued improvement from the toxic ingestion, regarding his nerves response to the toxin. I'm sure without the molasses tummy wash, he'd probably be gone by now.

I am pleased to report that all the other geese and ducks are just fine. I can't figure out why he ever even went into the pool, but I'm wondering. From his face, all head focused injuries, feet seem OK. I wonder if he got his head out of the fence eating grass (his pen is the last before open space where dogs roam sometimes) and a dog grabbed him. I wonder if the pain and fright, he ran the short 25 feet to the pool, and toppled over the rock lined edge, and down into it. There are still rocks here and there, and the waters low now. Water was up after we drained the swimming pool into it, but since it still needs some repairs, we're letting it dry up. Just thinking..... Doesn't this seem odd?

Marty, I have no idea what could have happened, but I hope he gets better!

Marty, Thank goodness he is recovering so far. Sounds like you got some awsome advice on here. My prayers are with you and the buff.

Good morning, all. I am pleased to give a positive Spirit update from my last report. The modification made to Spirit's brace on Thursday has made a big difference in Spirit's comfort. Within 24 hours, Spirit regained his appetite and spunky personality. By last night, he started getting more mobile and his pain meds are again being cut back. We went from 1.5 ft of snow last week to rain for the past 2 days, which has really helped to melt the snow. The forecast for this week looks good, so I am hoping to be able to get Spirit for short supervised times.

In goose rescue news, I purchased the headlight assemblies and grille yesterday for my burb and as soon as it stops raining, will go outside and attempt install. I will also try to pull dented bumper out this afternoon so it does not rub on tires. I did not get new radiator yet, but hoping the crack is minimal enough to risk the trip to the airport to send off the final rescue dewlaps on Monday. I will apply a sealant on it today and take it for long test drive to see how it will hold up temporarily.

I look forward to finally declaring this rescue mission completed.

Yeah!!!!!!!!! So glad to hear Spirit is doing so good. I justknow that in the goose world/mind he is for ever endedited to you. Knowing his life will be better forever and the quallity too.
