Triplell, you want 3 pairs?? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

FYI, since space in my rig is limited, I was only planning to take africans if they were already pre-placed (for instance, I am getting 2-3 females for my own flock). If you are sure you want 2 pairs of africans, I will make room for them. I don't know if my africans ward off anything, but they are a great alarm system.

Trying to think ahead here.... I would like to set up a temp pen against the geese's pasture area to unload. I believe they would be there at least a few days to adjust, as well as to make our lives easier to catch those for initial placements locally. What dimensions do you guys think it should be?

It's said 18sq ft minimum outside space per bird wil keep them happy. So at 60 birds 1080sq ft minimum based on basic needs guidelines.

So like 60' x 108' for 60 adults. I am sure you can go smaller and still manage. It will get trampled and over eaten immediately, and you will want to block it off to recover or be reseeded after they are given more space.

That's not very large. Should be easy enough to box off the front corner of pasture, then. Thanks!

Latest newflash!

After selecting out the best adult geese for exams, Carole had 26 adults given exams by the vet. The vet ripped her off huge and charged her $1,677.50!! I am very mad about it and Carole is shell shocked. All who have offered to help or are considering helping, she could really use it! Her paypal is [email protected]. She did this behind her husband's back and I'm pretty sure he would flip his lid if he found out what she paid.

She also has 48 youngsters who did not get an exam (it would be simply astronomical to think of the additional cost). However, if they look healthy, I will take all of them anyway. Of course, we have more ganders than geese. The adult count is as follows:

1. White africans: 1 girl & 2 boys
2. Grey dewlaps: 5 girls & 11 boys
3. Buff dewlaps: 5 ganders

She is going to take a 2nd count on the youngsters later today.

I live less than 20 miles from Carole. Her husband was in real estate when Calif. was booming. I don't believe $1600.00 is going to hurt them.

Gunnermate, unless you know something about her current personal financial situation to give you just cause to make your comments, I find your post to be wholly negative and unnecessary.

Head count, as of this afternoon, with angelwing and walking wounded separated out, is 80 birds:

ADULTS: 26
White Africans: 1 female/2 males
Grey Dewlaps: 5 female/2 male
Grey Dewlaps: 2 males
Buff Dewlaps: 6 all males
Grey Dewlaps: 7 all males
Super Africans: 1 adult

JUVENILE COUNT: 42
Super Africans: 12
Whites: 8 (could be african or embden)
Greys: 12
Buffs: 10

BABIES UNDER 3 MOS: 12
White: 1 (could be african or embden)
Africans: 2
Buffs: 1
Greys: 8
