In spite of everything, we still got the africans herded into respective pens for the morning, and retrieved the two adult greys from pasture and returned them to the side yard. We are set for the morning!
OMG, I missed it all! Iain, SO GLAD your OK!!! My goodness. Happy alls well now. Hope the vet appt goes well tomarrow.
Hi Everyone!
Celtic, you were nunber 4 poster yesterday!
Your right Lightning... she wouldn't leave any of the animals.I wasn't able to get on at all today, and when I was going through the thread and read Celtic's post about the fire at Iain's I almost choked! I am so relieved that everything worked out okay. I couldn't imagine how they were going to try to evacuate all of those animals, and I just knew she wouldn't leave them.
I have my fingers crossed that everything goes well tomorrow. I will be sending you lots of positive thoughts all day!!
Hope all goes well today, and I think we all should reevaluate our evacuation plans, Our fire months start in Oct when the leaves start to fall and dry on the ground. We are heavily wooded so it wouldn't take much to get into big trouble fast. We do have the river down below us so that is a blessing. But when I told my husband I couldn't leave without my animals he looked at me like he was thinking of having me committedGood morning, friends. I got a wonderful night's sleep and am as ready as I'll ever be for this morning. The vet should be here in an hour and hopefully everything will go smoothly. I am most worried about my pair of teenage ganders. My boys have never been handled before and they are quite beside themselves at being locked up in the coop. It makes me so angry that the former owner is causing all these birds to suffer unnecessarily to hurt me. But we will do what we have to do to get these guys safely to their new homes and we are very excited to start shipping them out later this month!
As for yesterday's excitement, we are so relieved that the fire did not reach our property and all are safe. It certainly made us rethink our evacuation plan and hopefully we will be better prepared if it happens again.
