Just another thought..... If you had a Paypal address or other destination for money to be sent that you could post, people might be more inclined to donate.

P.S. Maybe I am just mean, but I think It is kind of crappy that the lady is pocketing all the money for the stock you are helping her sell, but unwilling to step up and take any responsibility for the mess she made by helping with the vet bill.

Magoo, that is pretty much how I replied to her email this morning. We will see how she responds. It just makes me mad that these beautiful geese have to suffer the consequences of a human's irresponsibility.

Wouldn't it simplify matters to buy the geese from Carole? For instance, pay $10 or $15 per goose, as is, or $20 or $25 per goose if she pays for health certificates? Then she is out of the equation and the person who buys the geese can recoop their investment from sales of the geese in the fall. I think, under the circumstances, all Carole is expecting to get is $10 or $15 per goose.

I, too, have bought goslings from Carole. A pair of grays and a pair of buffs. The female buff died the day after delivery. She has not had another buff female to send me. I am waiting for her to ship 5 goslings that I have paid for, a male buff and 2 pairs of grays. Weather is around 80 here and hoping she can send them today, but I still will not have a buff female.

I am not trying to butt in, but it just seems the logical way to do business would be to buy the geese at the drastically reduced price. Just my 2 cents...

Redev, from my perspective, I am spending $650++ in gas, taking time off work to do the trip, then committing to be responsible for feed costs once they get here, currently estimated at $15 per day. All so I can help her geese...

To pay an additional $1,000 for vet means I would be paying almost $2,000 to take on her headache and then having to do all the hard work to place them.

Are you suggesting that is a fair request to make of me?

No, not at all. What you have offered to do is very admirable.
However, in the event that Carole does not have the $ for the vet bill, would it be possible, when you rehome the geese, to add $ onto the rehoming fee to recoop the $ that needs to be fronted? I am only suggesting this in case Carole does not have the money for the vet. Hopefully, you could add enough to recoop all of your expenses in the fall.
It is just an idea.

It's too hot to legally ship right now anyways as the temps have to be below 85 for all parts of the trip including the layover hubs. Looking at Sep/Oct for juvenile and adult birds to safely ship again, which is all that she has.

Birds also can't not legally be shipped without being tested (even if the origin state says NPIP is optional, they also state you can't ship out of state without participating). Most states also say the birds coming in have to be tested.

Just pointing out the obvious here I guess, but some may not be aware. :D
