Goose lovers – please help!!

Iain - how tall does fencing need to be for ganders? Our main pasture fencing is woven wire about 5 ft tall because it was put up for horses. I am think of subdividing the pasture, so I'd like to know what height fencing I need to get.

Blind Girl (BG) showed me a whole new level of trust tonight.

I have a very set routine that she can rely on, which includes evening feeding time. When done filling bowls, I will walk to gate with Spirit and Ember running after me. Then I squat down and chat/hang with them for 5-10 minutes while they nibble on my hair, clothes, bucket. Each day both Gimpy and BG creep closer with curiosity. Tonight, for the first time, BG chatted with me and then nibbled on me, brushing up against me. She did this for quite a while too, as relaxed and playful as Spirit and Ember. She is such an awesome girl!!

Lightning.... Metzer's site says they use 4ft fences to divide up their bigger pens for breeding season. Hope that helps.

Lightening it depends on what is sharing the fence line. If you are subdividing and the horses will share the fence line use field fencing. if not you can go shorter.If its a perimeter fence I wouldnt go shorter ever as it makes it easier for dogs ect to go over.

Perimeter fence here is field fencing (no climb goat safe)
Interior we use 3' around the duck yards (for breeding) otherwise its 3.5- 4' temp panels we can set up and take down as needed.

our rear yard has chain link from the previous owners. We removed the top poles from it and the chickens cant see the top edge to jump up and over thus keeping them in the back.

We use 4ft for permanent fencing and 3ft for temporary.

When we were on the phone and I was looking at records I realized just how young our buffs are here. Was certain we had them earlier than that, just the receiving logs and hatch logs say different.

Barley was hatched on April 17th. My four-pack of greys were hatched on May 12th. The three buffs that were shipped to me (Ginger, Nutmeg and Piper) were hatched between April 24th and May 7th (ish).
