The feeding guidelines discussed on this thread are based on the condition of the birds who were rescued. They were grossly underweight, corn will put weight on a bird, so it is being used. In a normal situation where ducks/geese are being feed a proper diet to begin with, malnourished isn't an issue.
I would never feed out Sebastopols whole or cracked corn. They dont need it though since they are raised good quality feed with all the pasture grazing they want.
The rescue Dewlaps need the help in gaining weight back, so they will get it until we see them level off weight wise. Then it will be the same feed with whole wheat, whole oats and BOSS as the others.
