Glad to here she's making a home for herself. You awesome. (hug)

I don't want to brood all winter either, however, I'm guessing we'll all be meeting up at hatch day is today here once we're stuck inside, and goodness only knows what'll come of those conversations and our ready access to ebay!
I think that's why we all hatch all winter, lol. Nothing else to do stuck inside.

It was way too hot all summer for me to do much then, but Ive started over with most of my chickens so I won't be doing any hatching from them until they are old enough. Decided bantams were easier on me and the yard, especially ones with feathered feet. I am shopping around for my "other' chicken breed now (I have d'uccles) and am leaning towards buff brahma bantams. Going to a poultry show next month, and if the kids like it I need to find something for them to show. I think the brahmas would be good for that, nice calm and small.

Wheres a poultry show at?

Marty, glad you got your boy picked up and home. Your buffs are so pretty, how many total do you have now of them?
Hi Celtic sorry to have had to bother you earlier. Turns out it was Iain calling the PO, and they didn't catch the part that she was the shipper. They thought she was coming to get them, and were extremely surprised when I called at 10:30 to see if he was in yet. I was gonna have DH pick them up, but after that episode, they required ID, so they had to wait until 1 for me to get off work. My computer at work is crap and can't handle the site, so I had no way to go get the number from Iain. I didn't have her phone number, only yours. Thanks for sending the number, though.

Lets see, I've got 4 buff dewlaps, 2 greys now, and 5 sebbies. Eleven total seems like a nice number too me. I don't think i could handle any more goose poo that what I've got. I use your daily spray technique to keep the area in front of the house and around kid toys clean, but the back part of the yard sure has greened up nice since the rain. No doubt due to accumulated goose fertilizer.

I know you like to keep up with pics. Sorry I don't post them more often. In fact, I take them at least weekly, but I'm lazy about the whole process of actually posting them. Its a drag, and I don't like things that are a drag. I like fun things, and cool things. (Like geese, which are both simutaniously) If you want, I'd be happy to just text you the pics, I forget that I could do that, and it would help you stay updated and keeping it from sucking for me. Then you could post them for me, since you're a computer guru and have a clue how to do it in under 15 minutes.

I am extremely happy that we have a 100% success with our first round of shipments!! We have a few more rounds to go before we are done, but hopefully I won't be nearly as worried as I was with this set.

Lightning, IF Mrs Magoo adopts the funky buff cross girl and Kuwano adopts the adult white african trio, I have 1 (maybe 2) pairs of adult greys, 2 adult grey ganders, 1 adult buff gander, and 1 white juvenile pair.

I will have kept a total of 11 (or 13 if I keep the 2nd grey pair), increasing my total personal flock to 26 (or 28) geese, specifically: 1 buff juvenile gander, 1 buff adult gander, 1 adult grey girl, 1 deformed grey adult gander, 1 deformed adult grey girl, 1 blind grey girl, 1 recovering severe bumblefoot infection grey juvenile gander, 1 lovely brown african female, 1 possible cross-bred brown african female, 1 possible cross-bred brown african gender unsure, and 1 possible cross bred white african female.

Here is a sept. 18 pic of my goose flock before "dude" arrived

Here is a pic of some toulouse (buff and 1 grey) and Samantha, my little sebbie girl ((shes about 5 weeks behind everyone for age))

Here at the front are the 4 sebbies from Celtic. Two have grey spots on their necks, and a few odd feathers that will leave eventually I guess. They are well and healthy. All are fed am and pm, but the geese (esp sebbies) prefer the grass. At night when pinned again, they are given more food than they consume by morning, but I don't let my babies go hungary. All always have Boss, w/g wheat, w/g oats, and a corn/multi grain mix. When I have it, they also get 25% mazori, but otherwise they get layena. We don't seem to have anything called flockraiser here, but I guess I can check on ordering it.

Later today I will post pics of Dude and Lady. I'm no computer guru, so its an immense pain for me to post pics. I take the phone pic, send it to my email, upload to my computer, then come and post. Its not quick, and I'm not very good at it. Janet tried to explain how to use a "card" or something to take pics staight to byc, but I'll have to consult a guru on who exacty to manage than. i can barely even use my smartphone, and computer, just so you know. :D However, I'm perfectly good at caring for my birds, my lifelong passion.
Beautiful Marty

Marty, I think Dude will be very happy at your place. I cannot wait to see pics of him as he fattens up!!! And you can text them to me, too, for posting on byc.

Aww, thanks Iain! I'll do my best, I promise. I even have a nice vet who has allready performed surgery to save a silky boy I used to have. He's a good guy, and has birds himself. Now that I have your number, I'd be happy to send pics to both of you! In fact, that would be very much easier!!!

Hey Marty, tried to put gander and goose back with ducks last Sat. while we were putting wood up but after being separate for 5 weeks there they were right back together, so they are separate again.

I'm thinking mating season will have to start for the geese before a solid relationship is established. What do you think.
