Hi. I'm new and have a question. There have been a pair of Canadian geese at our pond for a month. In the past week a nest was made and momma has been on it. In the past 2 days I have not seen the male anywhere. I know usually they will watch over the female. Will the female be able the raise the babies on her own without the male protector? Thanks in advance for your answers!

I have observed that too but, if you can keep on eye on them long enough in the day, you will see the male appear with her. Seems to watch the nest while mama takes a break
and finds something to eat. They are generally fantastic parents,& ferocious, that's why there is such an overpopulation of them.

Whereas ducks don't really do anything to protect their young, and most of them perish to accidents(when they wander away) or as fast meals for all number of predators
