new with the poultry life and have a chance to incubate my first goose eggs my question is day 5 I candled the eggs and the first is now hard to see threw unlike my chicken eggs that I could watch move around - is this normal? The air cell is there but I can't see threw it anymore:( btw it's a white Chinese goose - the first egg together and the females very first egg

How old is your goose and your gander?

Goose eggs, since they take longer to develop than chicken eggs and are also thicker, are harder to see life in until later in development.

Is this the first time she's laid eggs? The gander is older so he's probably more on the ball, but it can take a little while for them to figure out the mating thing, so the first few eggs may not be fertile.

Can you post a picture of what you're seeing?

It's hard to get pic but did best I could - I also smelled the egg has a faint odor the other two don't 1st pic is egg I got on 9/1 then 2nd egg on 9/2 and third egg on 9/4

Silly question, but is it possible the batteries in your candler need to be replaced?
No not silly - battery fully charged can see threw all other eggs this one just went dark yesterday can't see threw it at all - looked it over really good no cracks or any damage if any kind been in incubator since I found it and have it set at 99.5 and humitity at around 55-60
