Two nights ago my goose was likely attacked by a hawk. I found her in the evening and brought her inside. I clipped her feathers near the wounds (one on the back of the neck, one under the wing, and one on the front right side of her chest) and applied bacitracin (without pain medication) until last night, at which time I switched to Blue Kote. She didn't seem to loose much blood.

She isn't eating much of anything (a few meal worms and a few pieces of grass is all she would eat over the last day and a half), but she is drinking.

I just brought her outside to see if she's still mobile (she is walking, didn't want to fully spread her wings), but I notice that she has a huge bulge on the front of her neck. It is impeding her bending down to eat grass. Could this be a compacted crop? She hasn't eaten much of anything for the last day and a half. Or is there an air sack there?

A vet likely isn't an option right now. Any thoughts?

How does it feel—like air under the skin, or like food in the crop? A leaking air sac or subcutaneous emphysema feels soft like air just under spthe skin. Can you feel a crop more on the right side? I have no knowledge of geese, but if you think that it is air you can try to withdraw the air with an 18 gauge needle and syringe from the feed store. It may come back, but it can be done more than once. The air will eventually be absorbed by the body. Here is a video showing air being removed from a bird’s chest:

So, we bled off much of the air with a syringe. She still has a "ball" on her chest, but it doesn't feel like a balloon anymore. She also isn't honking anymore (she could honk last night); i.e. she can't honk.

Her neck is sitting farther back than normal. Is this muscle damage? Will it heal?

And a pic...

It might be wry neck from the same reason that she had a leaking air sac, possibly an injury. Wry neck or torticolis can be caused by head or neck injuries, vitamin E deficiency, and also can be caused by some infectious diseases. Hopefullshe will get along okay. I hope others will offer advice. As I said before, I have no experience with geese, so I would also post on the geese forum here:
