Goose with hurt foot/leg

I don't think you need an specialist for her. How about calling an old fashioned vet? Most of the farm vets I know treat all animals.
I think it would be worth making a couple of calls. I like the previous poster's idea about wildlife rescue and posting a picture of her foot.

I hope she gets better soon.

Oh she is a goose even though she kinda looks like an aflac duck in that last pictures. LOL

She is doing a lot better so this may just be a long haul thing which is perfectly fine. Like today she tried to eat my glasses and my swimsuit top. She is standing but not for long. All of her joints in her feet work. Nothing really feels broken. She can only have one more shot of the Tylan 50. She is eating much better too. Jojo I did try the local vets they dont see birds around here if you have a vet there that does they are worth their weight in gold hun. Give them really nice Christmas stuff.

You are right; her feet look pretty normal. I'm glad to hear she is eating fine and all. Does she have any joints higher up on her legs that feel hot or swollen. I'm trying to figure out what is really preventing her from walking around more. Hopefully she will just keep on improving and get back to normal.

I had to laugh at the goose glitter. Maybe at her age she has a lot of that waxy stuff coming off new feathers.

I took a tote today and cut it off so she has a tiny pool outside too. After she got in and soaked in her hot tub (wish I had a hot tub) she walked around for about half an hour. Hubby gets a kick out of the goose glitter too. We went out to eat the other night and he leaned over told me and my girlfriend how I was making a statement with goose glitter that night I had managed to get it in my hair before I left. At this point I think it will always be an enigma but I learned a LOT through this whole thing and my doctoring skills have improved greatly. I will continue to give her the best I can and see what happens. I do make sure I am manipulating everything manually as I dont want rigamortis to set in and her lose it because of lack of use.

I have had geese for a while now and I can only remember one incident with a leg problem. Somehow, our saddleback sebastopol gander hit or stepped on his foot wrong. He walked around with a limp for a week or so. We put some vit/electrolyte mix in their water for the period of time that he was limping. Now, thankfully, he is back to his normal self.

I commend you on all of the great work you have done so far.

Keep it up. It does sound like things are turning around for the better. I have to agree that you have to make sure she exercises daily to make sure she doesn't get too stiff lol. I would keep up with the tylan 50 until it seems like she is better. If you run out and she is doing ok and not the best, then maybe just give her a boost with vit/electrolytes. Good luck!

I wanted to give an update on my goose. She made a full recovery. We were just patient with her and kept giving her electrolytes and the antibiotic. I didnt give her a lot of pain medicine hubby was afraid if we gave her too much it would damage her liver. It took about 2 full months but now she is doing just awesome. She is a lot more friendly after the ordeal though which is a great benefit.

Thank you for the update part, Heading out to get an injectable, did 10 days on water soluble with electrolyte and vits, plus oregano. The swelling was down and she began walking and eating like yours but about three days off penicillin and swelling coming back. I don't think she was getting a good dose before. Willing to try again.
