Please Help!! This morning I found my goose with a swollen face. Last night he was completely normal. He seems to be acting normal today but I'm worried, could he have an infection or has he gotten stung by something? I tried looking through the cameras in his coop but haven't seen anything. For a couple days he had a mark on one side of his face but it was small so I assumed it was a scratch, could that be the cause?
It's making his eyes close a bit and I'm scared it might affect his eyes.

Please let me know, if I have to take him to a vet I will try to find one.

Im not seeing the swelling. But photos dont always show what your seeing. Looks like a white Chinese and a more than a few years old? Maybe the bulge behind his eye in the 3rd photo? Eye looks gooey in that photo which sometimes is a respiratory thing. But in photo one looks normal. you can get Terramycin eye ointment from your feed store for that but let me see if I can get you more advice. @Goosebaby @Miss Lydia

He seems to be getting worse. I used some vetricyn eye wash and eye gel. His eye is becoming more watery and his nose is running, swelling also increased

Do you think it might be a repository infection. I have seen that in my runners, It starts with a eye then turns to drainage from the nostrils. But her eye was gooey completely covered with a white film before the nostril drainage thing happened. She had to be but on antibiotics to get over it. Unfortunately I uses non approved antibiotics for geese so I cant recomend

I didn't think that at first. I believed he may have gotten stung or bitten by something. We have wasps, spiders, and even some scorpions here so I thought it was that. He has a mark near his beak, and the swelling is only one one side of his face. The otherside is completely normal. The eye started getting affected as the swelling grew. If it is respiratory, is there anything I can do? Vets are closed right now, so I'm just watching him on his camera.

If you think its respiratory (possibility) you should take the extra step if you have a vet.. But...VetRX (camphor oil) is a fast relief. I very young had a gander go down with a respiratory infection this year. I treated with that and B-12 and non approved antibiotics. When I found him mid afternoon he kept trying to walk straight but walked in a circle. He spent one week in my house. Limping got to go back to the flock in a week. Cant tell him from the rest of the young boys out there.

But I do live close to you and yes there are lots of small bits and stings in this part of the world. But id a snake or a scorpion got him he wouldn't be here anymore. Bees are always a issue since mostly the only water they get is from out troughs. But could have been stung by one of them.

Please this is not my reanimation just what i would do. I use naproxen (alive) as a anti-inflammatory, 220mg tablet crush them and make 8 doses (can cause liver damage). I use benydril on my dog but not sure you can use it on a goose.

PS I panic everytime a goose goes down I don't have great answer's just what I do.

Thank you. He isn't acting very different. He's up and moving, even standing on one leg to rest. He's also still drinking water. I did end up giving his some benadryl, due to the swelling so I'm hoping that helps. If I can find a vet tomorrow, I will try to take him. I'll try to get the VetRx tomorrow, should I wait for the benadryl to be out of his system before I give him it?
Thank you for the recommendation, I'll look into that

VetRX is available at almost all feed stores. Amazon ect. Has nothing to do with other drugs. Do you remember as a child having vix rubbed on your chest when you got a cold... Same thing just for poultry.

Fingers crossed it all works out well. Thank You for loving your baby so much. Vets are a issue here also when it comes to poultry.

Wish I had better advice.

PS pick up some Vetricyn spray if you go to the feed store its the best antibiotic spray and works like a liquid bandage.

Thank you for helping. I hope he gets through it too. I'll get the VetRX tomorrow morning at my tractor supply.
