Gooses soft underside of bill scratched by cat - area is very swollen now. Please help!

My cat scratched my goose and cut the bottom of her bill where it is soft. I had her clean it with fresh water and stopped the bleeding with cornstarch.. 1-2 hours later I went to check on her and the whole area is very swollen now. So far, I sprayed it with Vetericyn and put a layer of neosporin triple antibiotic ointment on it. How should I be treating this? How serious is it - Does she need to see an emerg vet tonight or can it wait until morning? Very worried - she is my baby. Her behaviour is normal. Thanks so much for any help!

I am not a goose expert, but the cut looks deep. Vetericyn is okay to use as well as the plain Neosporin, but Hibiclens or chlorhexidene from a drug store might be a better antiseptic to clean into the cut with QTips for a couple of days, twice a day before applying the ointment. An abscess or wound infection might be prevented. You can also post on the goose forum or tag one of those members:
