Gorgeous Goats Contest (ends 9-25-21)

Entry #2
Darth Maul (Maul for short)
16-18 months
Myotonic
Oh the stories I have about Maul. From his “help Timmy’s fallen down the well” (ok really “help Obi escaped” bleating at my kitchen door to follow him and help Obi), to his fainting and rolling down a hill into the pond, to him being spooked by the Rouen duck flying overhead, to him being the most skittish/standoffish and now him being the loviest most likely a dog always wanting the attention, Maul is just the best. Granted I wish he didn’t try to eat our clothes and “head butt” (not aggressively, it’s more like rubbing against us so we pet him/makes sure we know he’s there) us every time we sit at the pond, he really is awesome.

She’s so cute!! I love her name and pattern!😁 What breed is she and how old?😉
She was a yearling when we bought her so she'd be about three now. She's a Mini Nubian, they're primarily milk goats. They are a cross between a Nigerian dwarf and Nubian, 2/3 the milk of a full sized nubian but only half the feed.

Jack the 4 month old Lamancha. He’s the cousin of two Lamancha brothers we bottle raised. Sadly, we had to put one of the brothers down due to urinary calculi 🥺 the breeder so kindly gave him to us to keep Gus from being lonely.

This is Gus, the remaining brother. He’s such a lovey boy 🤗 he’ll be 5 months old in a week or so.

This first entry is my very special buck that's loss I don't know if I will ever get over. This is Speck. He was a 6 year old Nigerian dwarf buck. He was the sweetest, most beautiful boy and produced stunning kids. We lost him, along with all of last year's babies, my production cow and my entire flock last winter during the Oklahoma ice storm. It was gut wrenching.😭

This little girl is Harlequin. She's supposed to be pure Nigerian dwarf, but looks a little thick in the leg to me. Either way, she makes for some gooood milk! 💖 When I watched the vid of the rooster and goat attack the hawk earlier, this girl came to mind. She's standoffish with people, but she is the herd dominant and she watches over her herd. Chickens included. She's the only one of mine I've ever seen bond with my chickens.
