Thanks, all. I will keep strategizing to incorporate these ideas re: shelter/hiding places. For now we have strung strand wire in a criss-cross pattern across the run, and attached bird scare tape to it. I know it's not fool proof, but it feels like some level of deterrent.

And we're not letting the chickens into our garden (where the hawk attack happened and they are much more exposed) without constant supervision.

Live and learn, or lose and learn... Such a journey with our feathered friends.
