Hi there,
So today my gander decided he would attack my duck drake, (never happened before) in the midst of the fight my two 11 weeks goslings were so scared. They were running everywhere to avoid the fight. After running across the barn, one of them just sat down. After a while, I noticed he was not able of moving, walking or even standing up any more

When I left him up he can move his legs, but he wouldn’t walk. I even tried putting him into the pool to swim, he won’t do that neither.
I lost two of his siblings two weeks ago due to Niacin deficiency, but this fellow was doing just fine, plus I have been adding Niacin supplement to his water and feed for two weeks.
Is it possible that he got traumatized by the fight? What to do to help him, my heart is broken?
I had to take him away from the flock because my gander had been stepping on him hard!
Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Sounds like capture myopathy. Occurs occasional when birds are stressed. Lactic acid builds up to toxic levels in striated and cardiac muscle. Thought to be relayed to a selenium-vit E imbalance. With supportive care, it may survive if the muscle damage isn't too bad. Usually diagnosed at necropsy. On a live bird, blood tests are required for elevated CK and AST levels.

OMG, the poor little thing.
I will keep looking after him, but what special care would you suggest.
Thanks for your reply!

Only things I can suggest is keeping him in a small area to minimize walking and give as much swim time as you can. Not sure what you are feeding, but I would probably use an 18% feed, water-soluble vitamin mix, and fresh young grass.

Do you think it would do better with the other gosling with it? Less trauma. And keep them in a totally different environment, maybe one they know from when they were tiny?

Thank you guys for your input.
I actually had it out of the barn in the fresh air with food and water close to it. It was calm and all, but wouldn't eat or drink; just setting there.
So I decided to bring it into the barn in a safe area. However, once it was in the barn and able of hearing his folks he started screaming and trying to move (still unable of standing up or walking). So I put him back with his brother and parents. In a safe corner so that the gander cannot step on him.
And I keep praying that I find him alive every time I open the barn's door, with hope that one day he'll walk again :bow
