I hatched a gosling!!

It is still laying in the bator trying to recoup from its ordeal, but it is out of the egg!!

Unfortunately, it will be the only one. The other egg made it as far as to pip into the air cell and died

**Anyone know why this happens?**

This is an american blue gosling, from vicki2x2's eggs. She sent 2 eggs, and both developed all the way to the end!

I guess I'll have to see if a friend has some day-old babies for a buddy!

Cuteness overload! But they grow up so fast! I hope it is as sweet as the one I hatched 3 months ago!

This poor baby is so sweet, I just want to hold it all the time! Every time I go in the 'nursery' to check on the chicken chicks hatching, it will hear me and start making this trilling sound. Poor baby!! I never knew how loving baby geese were until a few weeks ago. I had gotten an order from metzer farms that I was supposed to be in on. In the end I was not able to fulfill my end of the bargain, but the baby geese stayed at my house for about a week. I didn't want to let them go!!

It was so odd to have a baby bird that actually wanted you to mess with it! But this little one is a keeper, I've already made plans to order some more American Blues from holderreads in a week or so

Nester was just like that. He used to crawl up in the hood of my hoodie and sleep there and loved to be carried around. I think they imprint on you and look to you as Momma. If Nester even heard my voice he would call me from the brooder. He is a big boy now and lives with the ducks, but I can still pick him up, pet him and love on him!
