Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

This is the part I am not fond of when I turn them over to the flock the goslings seem to forget everything I did with them and the love they had for me! Now they run from me the 3 older ones and the 2, I just put out this weekend have already bonded to the adults and run like crazy from me.
All that time and love spent with them..... I miss them but they do not miss me.
I was afraid that would happen too RURU and it still may , but I'll enjoy the relationship while I still have it.

Healers, Blue Healers, Red Healers, ACD, Stumpy tails - all fairly common names for cattle dogs - some even call them cattle dogs!

Kelpies are used for gathering and bringing stock while healers are used for driving - at least that is what their instinct is. You can teach kelpies to drive and healers to bring but that is not their first instinct. Kelpies do tend to be slightly finer then healers but not always. Tilly is very solid for a "modern" Kelpie but not for an older style kelpie. The general trend at the moment is to breed working dogs smaller so that they can ride on a bike easier (4 wheeler) - there are other reasons but this is what I've been quoted time and again.
That´s really interesting. Thank you.

You wont be able to get near them soon. Good to hear Sam and Missy are getting the idea....

Once you turn the goslings over to the adults the goslings run like crazy from you. Everything you shared with them as goslings kind of leaves and they become adults.
I haven´t found this to be the case with mine. I continued taking treats out to the adults with the tinies, and they all come right up and eat out of my hand. The babies are nearly a year old, and are finding their own mates now.

So far they still come right up to us and tell us about what's happening lol and want to be close to me when I go outside, Missy looks confused by it. lol Tonight they went into S&M house all by themselves it made me feel so good to see how they are feeling at home with them.

Oh, dear little things. That´s just what you wanted really (aside from the little deviation of HAVING to protect them from snakes)

...lovely.

Toots and Babe have spent 2 nights with S&M and all is going so well. They are growing like weeds and M&S are in parental protection mode now.

Congrats on a successful transition!! For what it is worth, I personally think they will retain their connection with you throughout their lives. I have quite a few geese that I initially raised in house, then gave to adults to adopt at a few weeks old, and those babies (now all grown up) are still quite attached to me.

Thanks J I really want to be connected to them they are so sweet. and it has really helped Missy alot seeing how they come right up to me and peep telling me all about their day.

Now Missy is doing kind of strange things, she has been going into the others house and today I found her sitting on a duck egg?? she is very attentive to the gosling and even protective in running a duck or chicken off but why is she doing this, her and Sammy haven't been mating at all.

In my experience, most of the rescued adults I have trust me more after seeing how their babies or mates trust me. I expect the babies will help Missy bond with you more.

As for Missy trying to sit on nests, that is pretty normal behavior, but she should give up that silliness once she goes into full molt.
