Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

I hope my hatchery Africans develop the dewlaps, I really want the true African look. I like both the fat bodied, saggy bottom, dewlap look of Africans, and the smaller more graceful slim look of Chinese. A small flocked mixed with African and Chinese with the distinctive looks of their breeds would be wonderful to have. Can separate the breeding pairs and trios during breeding season and then allow them all together again afterwards.

I'd love to have white and buff Africans, as well as white, brown, and pied Chinese. But fight now I only have pens for 2 ganders, so I couldn't really keep that many colors and expect them to stay pure. I think adding a white African breeding pair, plus a few brown and pied Chinese females next year is all I can do for now.

If you just have africans and chinese, 2 breeding pens would work. Pen the africans together and pen the chinese together, all colors. Crossing white with brown on either of the two breeds is not crossbreeding its mixing colors, they will still be purebred.
Thats why i let my two or three(when i have them) colors of chinese stay together. Although i have noticed that they all know their own colors and stick with that group, which is kind of weird but shows how smart geese are to know their own kind especially if raised in an assorted group of goslings.
Last year i made sure i penned seperately to get pieds, this year i left the chinese group all together and got one pied the rest were their normal colors, except the lavenders and paints but those were from my tufteds and toulouse group.

I could do that, but for the rare colors, like the white Africans and Buff Africans I would want them penned with at least some same color mates. This is because those colors do not exist here in Texas. Having rare colors would make it much easier to sell extra goslings when the time comes. Brown Chinese are rare, and no one down here even knew pied Chinese was possible, so again I would have a market to sell extra goslings. And since they are rare colors, I could be a little picky on who gets to buy some. Like my future Siberian Husky puppies I do not want my goslings going to bad homes. I try to be a responsible, loving momma to my animals, and that includes finding them good homes.

But it is something I could think about. For now I will order the white African eggs from Utah, and Brown and pied Chinese eggs from you, next breeding season. If both of you are still willing to sell me some. I can see who has buff Africans and see if I could aquire eggs at a later date. Maybe Serve would sell me a few eggs

Haha, I dread to think what state they´d be in by the time they´d rowed across the Atlantic! That´s nearly as funny as white greylags throwing grey goslings! (old joke, understood by those on here a while back)

Lol, guess I'll have to find someone who has nice buff Africans in the US! It's just as well, I only have 2 bators and there is no way all the eggs would arrive close enough together to set them in the same Bator.

Starfire i know that Iain utah has very nice big pure african geese :) but you probely live way too far and i yea i'm all the way in europe but im pretty sure there are buff african breeders in America
