I don't think Snow will actually lay and egg in the fall but she is practicing for when she does. Missy use to walk around gathering bits of things around her feet long before she laid an egg.

8 that is one cute goose.

speaking of nesting how your nest coming along 8?

If you are talking about moving, its going good so far. Not finished yet. If you are talking about the incubation, thats going good too. Found out wednesday that its a girl. Both of us are healthy.

You know what makes things even funnier? The first batch of geese were 5 white Chinese and 1 tufted roman. 1 Chinese died and I traded the ruffed for a pair of day old white Chinese, which is how I got Noel. Of the 4 remaining white Chinese, I kept Snow and Jasmine believing they were a pair, and sent 2 to my sisters. All 4 are females, though 1 of my sisters acts like a gander the same as Snow was doing here. I suspect the females did/do that when there is no gander present, someone has to be the protector I guess, lol.

Cream is also a female, though she is also a bit more outgoing than the other ladies. Cream is now the same size, and has the same low voice as the other ladies. So i guess she just had an early growth spurt and dominant personaility, which made me think gander. Noel, aside from being much larger than all the other ladies, has a high pitched, screechy voice that really sets your teeth on edge, lol. So now there are no doubts, I have 4 African ladies, 3 white Chinese ladies, and 1 white Chinese gander. This is actually a good thing for me, I really can't have more than 2 ganders here and I want a white African pair. I will have to select which ladies I want to keep, but I think I can sell female geese easier than ganders next spring.
That worked out really well, then. Amazing you got so many females, but that happens. One of my geese had 4 goslings, all females, and my original geese were from a hatch of 5 female goslings!
I hope you manage to find a nice white african gander for them, but then you have plenty of time. Just try to keep Noel from pairing off with the Africans, as it´ll be almost impossible to split them later on. From my experience, at least.....

Snow knob looks larger than Noels or is that just the angle of the camera,. They are pretty geese.

Snow's knob is larger, she has the largest knob of them all. Snow and Jasmine are 6 weeks older than Noel. Noel's knob is growing fast now. The knob thing had me really confused, but Snow has a low voice, is smaller than Noel, and Noel mates with her. So I assume that means Snow is female, if not then he would be a very delicate gander, lol.
