Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

Get ahold of kukupecpec.  She makes diapers and I think she has a BYC discount.  Super friendly and helpful, too!

Thank you. :)

Woke up this morning to 4.5 ducks and 2 turkey poults hatched.  Still no progress with the goose egg.  Today is day 31.

But, the half duck that was out made my morning!  I heard muffled peeping coming from the incubator, a kind I had never heard before.  I went to check the window and found an egg, zipped around the narrow end (the wrong end), with a wet butt and 2 wings sticking out and flapping, trying to push its way backward out of a too small hole.  If I had been thinking straight, I would have gone and grabbed the camera.  But because of the frantic peeping and flapping, I just quickly rushed in to free the backward tyke, who came out just fine.

My dad once asked me whether any babies are hatched breech.  I chuckled at him a little and said, "No.  Because they peck out with the beaks, they always come out head-first."  Well, now I'd like to change my answer.  :lau

Pleased your little duckling is ok. :love

Baby donkey pics, please!

when the goslings pip i always make the hole a bit bigger so they can breath better and so i can keep an eye on them (see if beak moves) but Iain said the membrane drys up which is true so make sure the hole isnt that big and that its covering the head atleast because if the hole is too big the membrane will stick to the baby and thats annoying

The one picture....OMG so flipping cute! I left a comment....I want to use it as my background if that is ok with you.

Sure. I didn't get a notification that I had a comment on it, but I see it now. You're welcome to use it for non-profitable reasons, lol
