Oh, nice!! I hope they don´t poop on it first!
8, wouldn´t you think that it depends what the 'blood' is? For example, with chickens, we can sometimes find a 'something' in the eggs that could be blood or some cast-off flesh from the chicken's reproductive tissues, so I would imagine it depends on the 'blood'....whether it looks like a developing spider vein, or a blob of 'something'. Could this not happen with geese? No females will hiss too, especially this time of year. If you found blood in the egg you have a gander for sure. Your goose probably isnt broody yet or is a first time broody and doesnt quite have the basics correct.
How regularly were you getting eggs? And if she´s only sitting half the time, then I agree with 8 that she hasn´t got the idea yet.I have a dilemma.....I think my two buff geese are actually a pair. We had been collecting them and eating them but we found blood in an egg. Is it true only male geese hiss? And my female only sits maybe 12 hours a day, is this normal?
How adorable..
