I would love pics. and I already know I want brown chinese and pied chinese hatching eggs next year. no doubt about that!

I have pics from last year but back then i wasnt too sure on how to tell when they were pied or not. After growing out 6 of them and taking pics of their growth its pretty easy.

awesome. I can't wait to see the pics. I am also looking into incubators and brooding pens and all that for next year. I will not make the same mistake I did this year and get the birds/eggs then scramble to get what they need.

I think we all have done that. I believe it should be called "first time goose mom syndrome" in fact i kind of did that with these, i forgot to pick up feed for them but hubby remembered. I have alot going on right now so its a wonder that i remember to do anything

I scrambled to build my first coop. I am not completely happy with it, but am working on coop 2 right now so I can have separate housing for my chickens and the geese and ducks. After that I will take a short break, then plan on the extension and remodeling of the first coop again. lol. and I often feel that I meet myself coming and going so I know how you feel

Here are pics of the building we are converting into a chicken coop. step 1, clearing it all out has been completed. step 2, checking for and repairing any damage before remodeling has started.
The building is 8ft X 14ft, our first coop is 11ft X 6ft, open air design and still hot inside. I am worried about how hot this one will get being that it is a building, not just posts and fencing with a roof over it all. We are planning ventilation cuts under the eaves on front and back, we want to push the cut out, kinda like a roof piece for rain and drizzle, maybe mount a fan there to push the air. 2 removable panels cut out of the sides, so we can take them off during summer and put them back on during winter. Going to sink some metal roofing scrap I have that is 3ft X 4ft around the bottom to prevent predators digging under, layered with bricks for weight. The building shifted a little, so I will be going under there to re-level it (I have re-leveled parts of our house and since this is much smaller it should be a lot easier to level.)

We did that same thing when i was raising rabbits when i was a teenager. I went from 3 pairs of drawf bunnies to 26 bunnies in no time. My mom built lots of nice large cages for them within a week lol i was lucky having parents that loved animals as much as me and were supportive of letting me try different things.

I thought it might be like with the children...when he´s naughty, it´s "look what your son did..."  When he´s wonderful, it´s " My son´s so thoughtful...."  
Well, weirdo is very pretty, like her bolshy sister!  Nice babies.  Congrats to you...and hubby!  

I can see why you would think that, but such is not the case in this instance. Thanks! We are pretty pleased with the happy results and with there only being 3 babies, not so overwhelming. We have three more scovies sitting, with two more that could go broody, so I expect we will be seeing more babies this spring.

Thanks! There is only one true yellow and I expect even that one to wind up colored. Momma was almost solid yellow as a baby. The only possible drakes are a lavender Ancona and a mixed Cayuga. So who knows what they will look like as I have not seen a Muscovy duck crossed with a domestic bred drake.
