Number 6 is out...finally. Another white chinese from Martha's purple egg. I had to help it the membrane shrink wrapped and i waited long enough that everything was inside! Yay!
3 left that are ext. pipped and 2 that are internal pipped. Im not expectong any more to be out until sometime tomorrow after noon.

It is so exciting to see all these babies!

My ugly frizzle chicken hatched another silkie, this one is grey. Knowing the eggs, it is part frizzle, so truly her baby. I gave her another bath today (stinky girl!!!) and she was very upset while I dried her cuz she could hear her babies.....when I. Set her back in the box, she squeaked at me once, then baby talked to her two chicks, very funny and cute!
I took some pics but I will lost mañana.

This little impatient one was pushing and straining and crying so much that it only took me chipping away at the top of the shell for it to literally explode in my hand.. Once it uncurled and we put it next to the egg we could see why...Its huge (I've only ever hatch chickens so yah, I'm a newbie) It has absorbed all its yolk sack and is just barely attached to that shell by a thin thread... I worried about the blood but it seems to be doing fine so far...

   Definitely....CRAZY!  So you´re fed up with your garden, then?  :lau

No I still love my garden and am planning to fence sections off. I do want to leave the rose beds open though, the chickens love that corner and it makes a nice cover when hawks fly over. I mainly want my herb garden fenced off and a small section of flower garden where my small flowers are. The strawberry bed has already been fenced off. And I will fence off the raspberries and blackberries, cause I want some, the chickens, ducks, geese can't have them all! Lol. The big veggie garden is at my mom's house, right next door (behind me actually) and has 4 foot chain link to protect it. My chickens wings are clipped and i will clip the ducks wings soon. And it is not just my flock I have to protect my fruits and herbs from, the dang grackles ate all my baby oranges off my new mandarin orange tree that I got as a birthday present this year! I am gonna have to use bird mesh on it and probably some of my berries to be able to get any fruit.

Anyway, I am pretty positive that Jasmine, Peaches, and Jezebelle are girl geese, while Snow, Cream, and Mabel (thinking of a boy name now) are ganders! So i have goose/gander pairs in the 3 age groups running around outside together. And Mabel was the most aggressive of the geese in chasing and attacking the new ducks at 3 weeks old! If that is any indication of aggression, he is going to be worse than Snow and may be my husbands Christmas dinner! Maybe I should call him Noel! :lau. Guess I can pass the name Mabel to one of our new baby African goslings.

The ducks have all been named. We have Howard the duck (hubby named him), Daisy duck (she is Howard favorite and is laying), Ivory,(2nd largest crested duck who should start laying soon, Howard tried to mount her last night), Ebony (the black crested), and Loudmouth (the smallest crested). Loudmouth just won't stop talking and she screams at the chickens and geese very loudly. What makes it even more funny is my hubby and youngest son have taken to quacking back at her when she screams! I also discovered that the lady across the street has 1 or 2 ducks! I never saw them before but when I let the quackery out I heard duck calls from behind her house. I think I saw 1 maybe 2 ducks back there. Her ducks and mine had a short conversation when I first brought them home :gig

We´ve fenced off so many plants here. My hubby grows passion fruits, and I had to fence them off last week as the flowers and fruits hang down right at eye-level to the geese...well, that´s too much! Nibble, nibble...oops! Another flower down! I also have to put fencing around the bark of saplings as they´ll nibble it all off.
