Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

Livininbrazil isnt breeding season close for you ?! Oh and the worldcups on in brazil and its exciting! I dont know if you live near sao paulo :\ its probely very busy

I have to tell you about my 2 -2 week old goslings that have turned into terrors of the flock, lol they went with me to do chores this afternoon and chased off 2 adult ducks and one of them ran and attacked my Muscovy drake then started peeping like a baby when it couldn't see me. I find this amusing and funny but I don't know how long the ducks will be afraid of these 2 hooligans. Ever seen anything like this?

Breeding season is just about to start for us, we´re almost onto the shortest day.
We live in São Paulo state, but not the city, thank goodness. we live right out in the sticks, so unaffected by the cup.

As far as I know, the cities that are hosting the games are pretty chaotic. Hubby had a laugh, the first goal of the games was an own-goal by Brazil, good start.

Sounds like they think their momma is the biggest bird in the place!

Sam doesn´t seem a typical gander, then! Indifferent to babies?! amazing!

.Quite agree with you about not leaving them out there, but if every time you go out you take them with you, that´d be great. I laugh so much at the cockiness of the goslings. When mine are reared by the parents, they get this learned attitude (even worse than natural) towards other fowl, and the heads go down, then dad follows up, and they shoo the poor ducks and chickens away. babies´confidence soars, so they just get more attitude, then suddenly one time dad gander isn´t there, and woops! Table´s turned, and they get shooed off by a duck...but I´ve never had anything hurt a little one here, ever. Nor a big one, come to that (except for cranky turkey that I don´t have any more).

Sam has always loved baby ducklings, first time he's ever been around goslings. this afternoon he was more attentive but still not sure as to what he is suppose to do I think, He follows Missy around like a lil puppy dog, Missy wants them to follow her but I think both need parenting classes. lol

This afternoon there was a blk snake coming up the driveway that got Missy's attention and upset her, but still not seeing anything resembling protectiveness towards goslings, But as long as sometime down the road they accept them into the fold I'll be happy. And hopefully gozzies will accept them.

Down the road, they should all be fine. Do your geese tackle the snakes, or just get spooked by them?

The fun just doesn't stop around here. Yesterday I discovered my rooster Screwball had bumble foot and I cut it out. I caught it earlier enough that the kernel wasn't that big. He is walking fine with his foot bandaged. Now we are under tornado watch. So we are bracing for more damage. Ugh, we just barely were finishing up repairs from the last storms to his us. My poor garden is going to get pulverized. 60 mph winds is what's forecast till midnight tonight. I put everything I could under cover and tied down a lot of other stuff. I put the chickens, ducks, and geese back in the chicken coop for safety. Now to just pray we don't have a tornado drop on us or suffer to much damage from the winds.
