The fun just doesn't stop around here. Yesterday I discovered my rooster Screwball had bumble foot and I cut it out. I caught it earlier enough that the kernel wasn't that big. He is walking fine with his foot bandaged. Now we are under tornado watch. So we are bracing for more damage. Ugh, we just barely were finishing up repairs from the last storms to his us. My poor garden is going to get pulverized. 60 mph winds is what's forecast till midnight tonight. I put everything I could under cover and tied down a lot of other stuff. I put the chickens, ducks, and geese back in the chicken coop for safety. Now to just pray we don't have a tornado drop on us or suffer to much damage from the winds.

Down the road, they should all be fine. Do your geese tackle the snakes, or just get spooked by them?

They are scared of them, Missy makes this little mumble sounds when she sees one unless it's the 6' ones then they all run for their lives.

We are OK. Got slammed with high winds and rain, lost power for a bit, but no major damage. Thank the Lord it was just a bad storm for us, no tornado. It was frightening though, the screen door did get ripped open and slammed into our wood door, at midnight, then the power went out. Storm was fast and furious, over at about 1:30 or 2 in the morning.

Not sure about goose genetics, so this may be a dumb question but here goes....I have hatched out a gosling from my African goose and Toulouse gander. Will the baby look like one or the other or will he/she have a mixture of characteristics from each parent? Right now he/she kinda loos like an African gosling (black bill, grey/green feet and yellow & grey fluff) Wondering if it will look African as an adult???

It will look like a mix of each parents characteristics. It should be Gray like the toulouse, with a neck stripe and a knobbed bill like the african that is somewhat smaller, also the bill will either be all orange like the toulouse or a mix of orange and black. As for what it looks like now as a baby there is not much difference in african goslings and toulouse goslings, unless you really know what to look for.

How funny. My lot, when they see something in the pond, just stand there, necks arched, trying to look at it, but from a safe distance. So funny.

You've already seen pics.... my crosses are the pair of teenage ganders I've had for 3 years.
