Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

I have never struck her, I believe that hitting only makes things worse. They don't understand spankings. I have pinned her, I have chased her with my arms spread hollering at her when she went after my mom. I have even tried hissing at her when she came for me from behind while I was enjoying some attention from my Chinese geese. That time Snow, Jasmine, and a couple other geese went after her for me! I would swear they were just as upset over her behavior as I was. She often tries to bite and bully the other geese, and she has gone after the ducks and chickens. She just may not be compatible with our flock. She was raised with all these guys, but attacks anyway, even her own kind. I am thinking it may have something to do with badly bred hatchery stock. She needed months of TLC to get her legs strong, and now she is just plain viscous and refuses to learn or back down.
I expect the extra attention he got has made him a bit overly confident and is now thinking he´s important. It has to be a male, this behaviour.

They could still be same age! Because
the male's grow the wing feathers a lot faster then female's.
(Unless it is has wild geese bloodrelation which is unlikely but with a crossbreed goose is half wild then the babies wing feathers grow a lot faster and mostly grow too fast

Really? I´ve never noticed that wing feathers grow differently. I´ll pay attention this time around...

Things are getting better, i still miss mom like crazy. I still catch myself waking up early to have coffee and breakfast with her, old habits are hard to break.
I just started my 15th wk of pregnancy, so far so good. I should be able to find out the gender by the mid to end of July. Never thought i could be this excited about something like this lol
The animals are doing great. I did lose my handicapped duck, Flop. He passed away in his sleep. He lived a lot longer than i thought he would when he hatched 14 mos ago, i never thought he would live a week back then. The whole family cried over him.

How are your babies doing? Well i hope!
My dad died 6 years ago. Still doesn´t seem real. My poor mum still struggles with it. When she comes over for visits, she always says how much my dad would hve loved it here...brings tears to our eyes. We get accustomed to it being different.
Good to know things are still going so well with your baby.
But sorry to hear about Flop. But what a cared-for duck he was with you. And what about Mrs Flop?
I would guess "he" is right looks like he may have a flat front knob when it comes in and the one behind is a female doesnt have as much developement as the male

This is a female but you can see what i mean by flat front

With my whites, their knobs do not seem to be as round and "perfect" as my browns
How elegant.

This is my problem goose, Gertrude.
That so much looks to me like gander stance. Rather than put him down, why not see if someone is looking for an African gander? I´m sure that´s a 'he'.
That's Jas (Jasmine if goose, Jasper if gander). When she was a gosling, 8, Serv, and Utah all said gander. I am leaning towards goose, but won't know till that first eggs comes out, or doesn't lol. Whatever sex Jas is, she has stolen my heart with how sweet she is. She climbs in my lap of her own free will when I sit down to spend time with them. Jas and Snow are the eldest geese of the flock, and both are the sweetest. I am praying desperately that Jas is indeed Jasmine sot that they pair up for breeding season.
And I said female too, but then, of course, I know as much about chinese as MLyd!

Makes me think of Sam always has his head in the air hardly ever looks where hes going he's stepped on many a duck and in buckets .

Sam´s quite a character I think! How´s he doing with his dad responsibilities? Is it what you´d hoped for?
When he molts he pretty much stays off to himself, but when he does participate he is a good papa.

These were taken today. I have fenced off more area for more grass.
