Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

It is really funny. I think the geese racist, lol. The white ducks are allowed to hang with the geese (mixed white Chinese, and African X brown Chinese). But the black mallard and Cayuga ducks are chased off by the geese. At least there are 4 Cayugas (3 females, 1 drake) for Ebony to be friends with, lol.

I think I need to make more duck and goose nests.
I see that on the duck thread where members post that their white ducks won't accept their blk ducks or the other way around, I don't know if ducks see in colors do you? At least Ebony now has her own family.

My two new geese are sitting on 10 eggs between them (7 and 3). I´m hoping that they´re their own eggs, and someone hasn´t done a sneaky one. I´m looking forward to seeing if they really are auto-sexing, aas that´s what I understood them to be when I bought them. Time will tell. 10 days til hatch, or thereabouts. I also have one of my cross-breeds brooding two of these eggs. That makes 12 eggs that I hope belong to them, so I should get a good idea about them.

As you can see, they´re small geese. I also have one of my Pilgrims on eggs.
They are beautiful geese, look forward to seeing those goslings.. you didn't tell us you were that close to having goslings. 10 days how exciting.

So here are photos of my girl Dawn doing the teeter completely off leash. She was tired, we had just done a 2 1/2 hour team practice, so I stayed very close to her. I kept my hand in front of her face to slow her down and make her "wait" while the teeter comes down. And I kept a hand right by her shoulder because she kept turning her head to watch me instead of watching where her feet were going. My 12 year old son used my phone to take the pictures.

Looking good. :thumbsup

Thank you. She has come a really long way. 3 months ago I wanted to strangle her, she was being a b*tch in all senses of the word. Now, she has a job that she loves, agility, and her whole attitude has changed. Texas summer is really hard on my Siberians, we stop taking them for runs because of the heat and they get very upset about that. We do take them for late night walks, but walking isn't in the Siberian's personality, they need to run. The agility training is in an air conditioned space, so we can do it year round without risking heat stroke. Also in agility I let them run and jump and don't force them to stay at my slow pace. And when they really get out of control, our trainer gives me a ring to turn them lose in for 10 minutes to just run. Now Dawn gets rewarded for running and jumping instead of scolded and she just loves it! All of my dogs have blossomed since we started agility, but Dawn has come the farthest. She actually stays by me off leash now instead of bolting! And she knows when she does an obstacle well, she gets treats and I wrestle with her as a reward, so she is starting to focus on me and my commands and do them. I am very pleased and proud of her. I just needed to find her an active job she could do in Texas heat.

It's just a nice bonus that she is actually good at agility. I would have been happy just doing agility for exercise and bonding time. But Dawn has a lot of potential, she could actually end up competing!

I am not sure what to make of this. Peaches is now on the nest with Snow. I had assumed that my geese wouldn't lay till Feb. So why are they coming into lay now?

And even though I made nests in their coop, and in other places in the yard, they still prefer this as their nest. When I blocked it off, the ducks got very distressed. So I opened it back up for them.

send me an egg!!! they are both soooo pretty! i love the coloring in the face of the bottom goose. is that a pilgrim? i cant tell any of the breeds apart yet. forest is starting to get the white feather in the face in a pattern close to this goose's face.

I thought laying season was over for geese in the us? does it depend on how hot it is or something? i assume tx is pretty hot right now. what is that white goose ?

Possibly the most beautiful goose I have ever seen...with the exception of my three of course.
