Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

Hi Serv! Im doing good. The geese are great. The two goslings are getting big & fat. How are you and your's doing?

I am fine thank you,my geese are just fine as well with my goslings they are huge now.The weather is Mild and wet the usual Irish winter.I am now selling pairs of geese so it is a busy time of the year.

Hello Everyone! Its been awhile! Glad to see that everyone is still having good luck with their geese and goslings(the ones who are in hatching season now) hope you all are doing as well as your birds are.
Hi 8 good to see you. Tell us again when hatching is to take place?? Most may not know.

Glad to see everyone continuing to chat on this thread. Sorry I'm not posting much these days. Life is a circus lately, but going well. We are still targeting to be in our new house by Thanksgiving and working like crazy to make it happen. But I did want to share that I had my vet, Scott, over yesterday and he checked out the micro duck (sorry I forgot my camera to take pics). He confirms the little one is smaller than a call duck, but looks healthy and happy. He is not sure the cause of the phenomena and believes it is pretty rare. He also examined Spirit and Walter (our elderly African gander that we foster for Scott), who are both doing pretty good considering the extreme winter blast we have been getting recently. Fortunately, we are also building a barn with a special pen just for them to live during winter, so they should both be just fine. In the meantime, we are back to bringing Spirit inside the house at night to avoid frostbite issues, which he clearly seems to appreciate. Hope everyone affected by this arctic blast is staying warm.
J how exciting and almost done. Glad to hear micro is healthy just tiny. To have a nice barn for your animals sounds so nice and I know your happy to have gotten that especially for Spirit and Walter, can they be together or will they have separate bedrooms? Stay warm.

Hi Miss L! My hatching should be anywhere between the two due dates, Dec 3rd & Dec 22nd. With a forced hatching date of Dec 23rd if it doesnt come before.

Sounds like you are having a wonderful time, Serv! Thats great!

Livin! How is the Lavender gander doing?! Did he turn out as Lavender as we thought?! Nice goslings btw love pieds
Hi serv. Well, he´s not much of a lavender as such. He just has a little grey in his wings that they normally don´t have. Very pretty, though.
Livin. i agree, I am very entertained with the goings-on of my birds! I like to sit in the middle of the yard and watch them. Is it normal for ganders to adopt the gosies and chase away the moms?

LOL You make me laugh! I have been thinking the same exact thing about my cayuga girl. im going to have to video it so you can see if it is normal or if she is impaired some how.
The ganders didn´t pair with this particular goose, but they´re just cuckoo about the goslings. If they´d paired with her, it´d be different.

Livin, but he was so Lavenderas a baby :/.
I do know that if you cross a Toulouse with a Embden female there is 1/3 of a percentage of getting a pure/near Lavender gander.

8, how is your lavender tuft gander doing?

Its growing well. Turned out to be a tufted xchinese instead of a tufted x toulouse lol Bill the brown chinese struck again. It has a stripe neck now and a knob starting to grow along with random black feathers on its wing tips.
My other gosling, the super pied who is for sure a tufted x toulouse is a monster now its huge like its toulouse dad, i think its a goose though.

If you have time can you make pics?
I am really interested in your tufted chinese cross because i never saw a goose that has a a tuft and a knob!

Really? Because I have a white gander of that cross that will be 2 yrs old in the spring and he has both.
When it warms up a bit in the next few days i will get some pics of them all.
