Got a shipment from MyPetChicken!!!!

ok I was thinking of placing an order with "mypetchicken" & now that I hear you all commenting here I'll ask. Is it normal to have problems with their legs if they're shipped? And I didn't realize you can try a "fixt it with a bandaid" thing. Just curious.

This is my first shipment as well, all of my others came from the feedstore. My understanding about the spraddle leg thing is that it is something that can happen if you keep your chicks on a slippery surface that they can't get get a good grip on OR it can be something that happens to them like a birth defect (any of the expert BYC'ers feel free to correct me if that's not right).

Since MyPetChicken had these guys packed so nicely with a thick mat of woven stuff that provided them with plenty to grip, I'm thinking that the one I lost was just one of those things that just happen from time to time. That said, I guess that shipping of any kind, even when done right is pretty tough for these little guys so if you ship enough of them you are bound to lose some.

Other than the one golden sebright that I lost, all of the rest are happy and healthy and running around the brooder like crazy. When I emailed MyPetChicken they answered withing minutes and said they'd honor the 100% live shipment guarantee and they've kept in touch since then to ask if the rest were doing well.

All things considered my first shipping experience was pretty good and I'm extremely relieved considering some of the horror stories I've read on here about orders gone wrong.

As for fixing the spraddle leg, I did a search on here and found lost of helpful posts and pics on how to straighten the legs to give them a chance to recover.
