I emailed the county yesterday because I found good deal on a dairy calf, but wanted to find out if I could have it first before investing in the fencing, cow, and whatnot. Especially since I live off of a main highway (even though its rural). I mentioned chickens as well, and was told that I can't have farm animals on my property because I didn't have at least 5acres. Even if I did it would need a special permit and only for an FFA prodject. I only have a little over 4.5acres to the high water mark (5 if you count to the current water mark) so its a no go for me. The property across the street is all zoned AG, but since I'm lake front I'm R-1. I'll be taking my chances and getting some chickens anyway, while I try and debate the county. I know that people in my area have them because I can hear somebody else that lives on the lake rooster throughout the day
